Our Story
Sometimes, the most important moments in life happen when you least expect them.
It all started at a bar in Ames, Iowa. Mariela had recently welcomed her friend Ale, who had just arrived from Argentina. That night, Ale convinced Mariela to go out, and it was actually Mariela’s first time going out—and her first time at that particular bar.
Little did she know, it would also be the night she met Brett.
When Brett saw Mariela, he didn’t hesitate. He gave her his phone number without a second thought. A few days later, Mariela sent him a text, and the beginning of their story was underway.
Before they became a couple, Mariela and Brett became “walking buddies.” They would meet for walks in the park, spending time together and slowly getting to know each other. Then, one day, Brett invited Mariela for a drink.
That drink changed everything.
Not long after, they started dating, and in the spring of 2023, their friendship blossomed into a relationship. As their relationship grew, Ale became a close friend to both of them, making her an important part of their story from the very beginning.
What started as an unexpected night out became a love story filled with laughter, adventures, friendship, and countless memories.
The Proposal
In December 2025, Brett traveled to Argentina for Christmas, where another unforgettable chapter was waiting for them
On December 30th, 2025, surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of Iguazú Falls, Brett asked Mariela the most important question of their lives.
And she said... YES! 💍❤️
From a first night out at a bar Mariela had never been to, to walks in the park, to a drink that changed everything, and finally to a proposal beneath the spectacular Iguazú Falls—somehow, all the little moments led us here.
